Kristi Tumminia

Kristi Tumminia has been dancing and performing since age 3.  Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Kristi studied all styles of dance at Horizons in Dance.  When Kristi moved to Westchester, NY she continued to study dance, theatre and Opera while continuing to pursue her music and performing career.  Kristi feels honored to have had the opportunity to perform at NFL Superbowl XLI in Miami, BET’s 106 & Park, Blaze the Stage, Maxim Records Showcases, and NY Knicks Halftime at Madison Square Garden.

Kristi began assisting and teaching dance at age 16 and never looked back.  Throughout her dance years, Kristi really found her love of Hip Hop, and started to take class at the prestigious Broadway Dance Center in NYC from choreographers such as Luam, Rhapsody James, Jamie Jackson, Chio and more.

After having the opportunity to teach at several studios, Kristi's desire to create her own brand grew, which led to the opening of Spotlight Studios of Dance and Performing Arts.  Kristi's goal was to bring a completely different vibe to the local dance community by bringing in Industry Choreographers, step out of the box with an innovative approach to competing and performing, and giving her dancers more opportunity to grow and pursue their dreams.

Choreographing is Kristi's true passion and she continues to push the envelope, push her creative limits, and push her dancers to be the best they can be.  She is proud to have created a home for many talented dancers and instructors to come create, inspire, grow and work hard.

Holly Mehedin - BALLET/TAP

Holly Mehedin, originally from New Jersey, began her dance training with Julie Caprio of the Hamilton Ballet Theatre. First immersed in Ballet and Jazz; she later added Tap, and Modern/Musical Theatre to her repertoire.  As a graduate of Mercer County, Holly received her Associate Degree in the Fine Arts-Dance. From anatomy and kinesiology, to ballet, jazz, and modern; her education not only increased her passion for dance, but also developed within her an understanding of this world -a trait she has leveraged as teacher  and choreographer.

Holly has developed professional relationships in the dance community throughout her career. Her collaborations with artists include but are not limited to: Mia Michaels, Mandy Moore, Sonya Tayeh, Benji Schwimmer, Desiree Robbins, and Doug Caldwell.

Upon finishing college, Holly started her own venture, Dance Stars; a local studio that she and her best friend built from the ground up. She successfully developed and ran the studio for four years all while also launching a competition program. Holly's students and choreography won numerous awards and recognition, including several titles, top scores, overalls, and national titles. This propelled her to expand into different endeavors in the Big Apple.

By traveling to New York City three times a week, she started dancing at Broadway Dance Center, receiving guidance from teachers such as April Cook, Shea Sullivan, Justin Boccito, Aaron Tolson, Michelle Barber, and Julie Garofalo, in both private and classroom settings.

After moving on from Dance Stars, Holly successfully started and ran a competition program at Kathy Henkel School of Dance. Her dances were beautiful and challenging, and she piled up the overalls, titles, and earned "Top Choreography." She also kept perfecting her skill set at Koresch School of Dance, spent time performing with the Ballet South Company of New Jersey, and auditioned for Season 4 of "So You Think You Can Dance".  She was also a member of "FanTAPulous," a group of tappers who performed in the Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Her belief is that through ballet, students can achieve higher levels of self-confidence, increased ability to concentrate, and improved physical fitness in a fun-filled stimulating environment. She appreciates the fact that students are individuals who learn and develop at their own pace. She is thrilled to be sharing her love of ballet with the students of “Spotlight”!
